Doris M. (Sampley) Vaught, age 80, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Henry County Hospital. She was born October 24, 1930 in Knightstown, Indiana to the late James Samuel and Mamie Alice (Smith) Sampley.
She retired from Guide Lamp in Anderson after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Union Local UAW #663. An avid sports fan, she especially liked Cincinnati Reds, Colts, and IU basketball. She was a loving friend, mother, grandmother and sister, who had a big heart.
She leaves to cherish her memory her special friend, Billy F. Morgan of New Castle; a granddaughter, Laura (husband, Donnie) Gibala of Hendersonville, TN; a great granddaughter, Abigail Elizabeth Gibala of Hendersonville, TN; sisters, Karen Sue (husband, Jack) Sampley Rains of New Castle and Bette Ruth (husband, Jim) Sampley Hileman of New Castle; brothers, Gary Sampley of New Castle, Jimmy Sampley of San Diego, CA and Donnie (wife, Rosalie) Sampley of Mt. Summit; brother-in-law, Jim Pierce of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Vaught; sisters, Mona Lee Sampley, Rose Marie Sampley Brumfiel, and Marilyn Joan Sampley Pierce; brother, Larry Dean Sampley.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 22, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Jack Hannum officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the funeral home.
