Dorothy G. Hamilton, age 97, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Henry County Hospital. She was born February 6, 1915 in Henry County, Indiana to the late Issac and Ella (Adams) Pate.
She was born on the family farm in rural Spiceland and was a lifelong Henry County resident. She had worked at Kumfy Togs in New Castle. She was a 1933 graduate of Spiceland High School where she played basketball and ran track. She married Lloyd Hamilton in 1939. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, making many personal gifts for her family. She was a volunteer at Henry County Hospital working in the sewing room. Dorothy was affiliated with the Spiceland Friends Church and United Methodist Church, where she helped bake and made crafts for church Bazaars. She also enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn (husband, Dallas, deceased) Wilson of Daleville; a son, James (wife, Vicki) Hamilton of Greenwood; grandchildren, Greg (wife, Debra) Wilson, Barry (wife, Teresa) Wilson, Chris (wife, Susan) Wilson and Anthony (wife, Kerri) Hamilton; great grandchildren, Dane (wife, Reika) , Derek (wife, Stephanie), Daron, Damen, Lindsey, Jake, Lauren, Sydney, Mallory, Hayden, Wilson, Laci, A.J., Logan, and Brandon Hamilton; two step great grandchildren, Taylor and Tori Adams; special niece, Joann Shell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Hamilton; six sisters; two brothers.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Phil King officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
