Dorothy Lou Phillips, 91, of New Castle passed away Monday, February 24, 2020 at her home. She was born March 19, 1929 in Greenfield.
She was a 1946 graduate of New Castle High School and graduated from IVY Tech Nursing program in the early 80’s. Dorothy worked for Henry County Memorial Hospital, Indiana Bell, Chrysler Corp. and the New Castle State Hospital. She was a former member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church, Ninth Street Wesleyan Church, Park Place Free Methodist Church and currently First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle. Dorothy enjoyed collecting cookbooks, artesian mugs, and working crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Pam) Phillips of New Castle; a daughter, Bethany Phillips of New Castle; four grandchildren, Aimee Jackson, Kim (Andy) McGraw, Catina (Ronald) McIntoch, Jr. all of New Castle and Christy York of Muncie; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; daughter in law, Bev Phillips; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Dawson; caregivers, George and Eva Brenneman; husband, Don Phillips; son, David Phillips; a great-granddaughter, Mara Jackson and twin sister, Doris Gorman.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Friday, February 28th at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church, 1583 N. 300 W., New Castle, IN 47362.
