Dortha Sexton

Dortha M. Sexton, 81, of New Castle, passed away Friday in Heritage House Convalescent Center in New Castle following a brief illness. She was born June 8, 1928 in Monticello, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Arnold and Ollie (Dabney) Dick.

Dortha retired from the New Castle Healthcare Center in 1990 and also worked for New Castle Community School Corporation in the Food Service Departments at Westwood Elementary and the Junior High School for several years. Dortha was a member of Open Arms Church in New Castle. She loved gardening and was an accomplished seamstress, and did sewing alterations in her home for many years.

She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Danny J. (wife, Kay) Sexton and a daughter, Sheila (husband, Ronnie) Young, both of New Castle; three grandchildren, Ronnie J. Young of New Castle, Anthony L. (wife, Jodi) Young, and Kristy (husband, Mike) Gerth, both of New Castle; six great grandchildren, Amanda J. Young, Macy Young, Keldyn Young, Sarah Gerth and Dawsyn Young, and Matthew Gerth; two brothers, Jackie (wife, Sandy) Dick of New Castle and Bobby (wife, Joyce) Dick of Mooreland; two sisters, Helen (husband, Roy) Groce of New Castle and Nancy (husband, Cliff) Runion of Mooreland; a sister in law, Pat Dick of New Castle; several nieces and nephews; a special buddy, Delmar Clontz of Hartford City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Sexton in 2004, and three brothers, Billy Joe, Fred, and James Dick.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Paul and Rick Davis officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2009 at the funeral home.
