Dorvin H. York, 95, of Spiceland passed away peacefully on Monday December 23, 2024, at his home. He was born on January 15, 1929, in Albany, KY to the late Hogard and Omega (Swift) York.
A graduate of New Lisbon High School, Dorvin served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After returning home from duty, he worked as a Skilled Trades Foreman for Chrysler and retired in 2001 after 44 years of service. Dorvin was a local business owner, running a small shop working on cars for everyone in Henry County. In addition,
Dorvin was very involved in horse racing as he was the owner and breeder at York Stables raising Standardbred horses. He also enjoyed playing cards, pitching horseshoes and bowling. Most of all, Dorvin loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
Dorvin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha (Catron) York; daughters, Donna (Kevin) Hiner and Nikki (John) Walters; grandchildren, Erika York, Matthew York, Cameron (Mary) Hiner, Tosha (Drew) Smith, Megan (Joe) Haase, Brayden (Garrett) Thomas, Brynnlee Walters and Keelan Walters; great grandchildren, Ayden, Bronson, Emersyn, Adelyn, Easton, Bryson, Payton and Maddux; mother-in-law, Colene Catron; brother-in-law, Trebby Catron; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Dorvin is preceded in death by his siblings, Paris, Roy, Raymond, Everett, Ralph, Howard, Lester, Edwin and Goldie; son, Jeff York; grandson, Dylan Hiner; father-in-law, Oral Catron.
Services will be on Saturday January 4, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow at Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service.
