Duane B. Farley

Duane B. Farley, 87, of New Castle, Indiana passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Friday morning, December 6th, 2024. He was born on May 30th, 1937, in New Castle to the late Alvin Farley and Julia (Jackson) Farley. 

Duane was a lifelong resident of New Castle and graduated from New Castle High School in 1955. He was an active member of band and the Trojan baseball team. Duane retired from a 30-year career with the Indiana Bell Telephone Company where he held several positions. He was an active member of the Eagles and Elks Lodges. He was an avid golfer and member of the American Legion Golf Club. Duane spent many years as an active participant and supporter of the Henry County 4H Association instilling life lessons on his three children as well as others. Duane was a loyal friend to many and beloved by all that met him. He was always there for a friend in need. Duane loved to enjoy life and was often referred to as “the life of the party”. He was a devoted family man that took great pride in watching his family grow and create lives of their own. 

He is survived by his children, April (the late Steve) Denney of Huntsville, AL, Autumn (Bob) Vannatta of Lewisville, IN and Jim (Dianna Marshall) Farley of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Christopher Bland, Kimberley Denney, Dr. Katie Denney, Abigail (Dylan Rains) Vannatta, Amy Vannatta, Teandra (Alex) Marshall-Reyes and Tyson (Brooke Maurer) Marshall; great-grandchildren, Bella, Scarlet, Addison, Leo, Amelia and Nora.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his devoted wife of 63 years, Sharon Elaine Farley.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to family members Amy and Christopher as well as Helen, Avis, Ina and Bonnie for their tender care of Duane.

Services will be on Saturday December 14, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service New Castle Chapel. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. Memorial gifts may be made to the Henry County 4H Association at 1201 Race Street, New Castle, IN 47362.
