Edith Arlene Chamberlin

January 1, 1900 — September 12, 2010

E. Arlene (Brindle) Chamberlin, age 87, of Spiceland, peacefully passed away, Sunday, September 12, 2010 at her residence. She was born December 25, 1922, in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania to the late Benjamin and Florence (Harshbarger) Brindle.

She enjoyed music, and was past member with the Master Works Choral out of Muncie. She was a long time member of Spiceland Friends Meeting and was also a member of Macre Ne Feirma Farm Club and ABWA, Raintree Chapter. Arlene owned H&R Block Tax Service in New Castle with her husband for 32 years. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arlene married her husband, Alfred Chamberlin on March 19, 1945 in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania and they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1995.

Survivors include her daughters, Cindy (husband, Don) Crandall of Spiceland and Cathy Smith of Byrdstown, TN; grandchildren, Jeff (wife, Mary) Crandall of New Castle, Kevin (wife, Tasha) Crandall of Spiceland; great grandchildren, Cassie, Taylor, Nick, Hunter, and Tanaja Crandall; three step grandchildren, Jeff (wife, Kathy) Smith of Port Orange, FL, Greg (wife, Lori) Smith of Rockhill, SC and Pam (husband, Duane) Ford of Thompson Station, TN; seven step great grandchildren; four step great-great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Gatewood of Gamberills, MD and Marian Coffman of St. Petersburg, FL; sister-in-law, Mildred Chamberlin of New Castle; brothers-in-law, Robert Dennis of Westfield, IN and Norman Johnson of Modesto, CA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred O. Chamberlin in 2003; a brother, Donald Brindle; a son-in-law, Billy R. Smith.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 17, 2010 at Spiceland Friends Meeting with Rod Dennis and Sid Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Brick Cemetery in Hagerstown. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
