Edith Lantz

January 1, 1917 — October 30, 2010

Edith M. Lantz, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove. She was born January 1, 1917 in Bedford, a daughter of the late Ralph and Fannie Mae (Underwood) Tolliver.

Edith retired from Stark and Wetzel in Indianapolis after several years of service.

A Godly lady, her children called her "mother". She was a "mother" to many and was "grandma" to all the kids in her neighborhood. She will be greatly missed but always remembered as a sweet and caring person; always having the other person"™s well-being in mind. Edith loved her entire family and so enjoyed the annual Tolliver reunion, where she was always regarded as somewhat the "matriarch" of the family. She also loved her church family at Christian Tabernacle in Indianapolis, where she had been a member for many years. She was baptized by C.T. Davis at Oak Hill Tabernacle in Indianapolis in 1929. Many stories of years past in Bedford, Oolitic, and Mitchell were favored amongst her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Linda L. Jones of Indianapolis; Nancy White of Vacaville, CA; eight grandchildren, Carl Dean (wife, Julie) White of Peru, Teresa "Tess" (husband, Darrell) Borelli of Dixon, CA, Chris White (Roberta White) of San Diego, CA, Craig White (wife, Lois) of Vacaville, CA, Terri Lowry of Martinsville, Curtis (wife, Toni) Rhoten of Indianapolis, Cindy (husband, Kevin) Brown of New Castle, Tina Lantz (companion, Carrie) of Indianapolis; twenty great grandchildren; fifteen great great grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Webster of Bedford, Brenda Majors of Bedford, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louie Lantz, a daughter, Pat Minton; a son, Steve Lantz; a grandson, Larry Minton; three sisters, Thelma Eagan, Millie Schlenker, and Rosie Brown; two brothers, Chet Tolliver and Ralph "Toe Babe" Tolliver.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 "“ 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Christian Tabernacle Church, 802 South Franklin Road, Indianapolis. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Day & Carter Mortuary in Bedford with Pastor Kent Jordan officiating.
