Edward Carl Ferguson

Edward Carl Ferguson, 92, of New Castle, went to Heaven Thursday, September 15, 2011 in his home. He was born September 28, 1918 in Wolfe County, Kentucky, a son of the late Henry T. and Nannie Mae (Lacy) Ferguson.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II, including the invasion of Normandy. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle in 1980 following 31 years of service. He was a member of the UAW Local #371. A longtime member of the North 14th Street Church of God, he had served as deacon and elder in the church.

He is survived by his three children, Sherry (husband, Michael) Routte of Pendleton, Myron (wife, Donna) Ferguson of New Castle, and Ginger (husband, Gary) Goble of New Castle; seven grandchildren, Matthew (wife, Beverly) Routte of Avon, Michelle (husband, Michael) Selg of Pendleton, Crystal Routte of Pendleton, Amanda and Melissa Ferguson, both of New Castle; and Justin (wife, Chandra) Asberry and Chelsea Goble, both of New Castle; six great grandchildren, Alyssa, Alexander, and Alexis Selg, Allison Short, Maleah Kidd and Parker Ferguson-Guffey; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Jewell Ferguson in 2009; a son, Alvin Ferguson; four brothers, Seward, Ray, Ernest, and Winford Ferguson; and nephews.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at North 14th Street Church of God with the Reverends Elwood Evans officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to the IU Health Ball Memorial Hospice, 2401 W.
