Elizabeth J. (Liz) Baker of New Castle, was restored to her full glory on the morning of December 18, 2024 at home, after an extended battle with cancer which she fought with the heart of a lion. While Liz worked several years at JC Penney and Edwards Tax Service, she was most proud of her role as wife, homemaker and mother. She was well-grounded and forged strong roots for her family to grow while exemplifying a life of service in her community. For 50 years Liz held various leadership roles with Henry County Extension Homemakers, including serving as a state officer in multiple roles through Purdue Extension. She was a creative powerhouse and constantly learning new skills to teach and share with others, and was widely known around the state for her “performances” of entertaining but meaningful life-stories. A respected leader, she also organized and managed the local TOPS chapter for many years, as well as her roles in the Red Hat Society.
Liz organized and participated in many projects serving the elderly, at risk children and local food pantries. She loved bluegrass and gospel music, and hoped to be remembered with love and laughter. She cherished her many dear friendships forged over the years, and left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
At her request, a private memorial will be facilitated by Hinsey Brown Funeral Service in New Castle to return her earthly remains to her immediate family. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family respectfully encourages all who may be so inclined, to keep her light alive by offering an act of kindness to someone in need, in her memory.
