Elizabeth Marie Clay

Elizabeth “Betty” Marie Clay, 69, a resident of New Castle passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at IU Health-Ball Hospital in Muncie. She was born March 5, 1943 in New Castle to the late Oscar and Carolyn (Justice) Clay.

A lifetime resident of New Castle, she was a 1961 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. Betty had been a member of the Eastside Community Church in New Castle since age twelve. She had previously worked at Indiana Insurance Co. in Indianapolis and was a very avid reader.

Survivors include a sister: Inez Flynn of Indianapolis; a niece: Tamara Hendricks of Sweetser; four nephews: John Clay and Scott Flynn, both of Indianapolis, Brian Clay of Richmond and Bobby Clay of North Carolina; a great niece: Arielle Nantz of Sweetser and Russell Clay of Shelbyville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Lloyd Clay and two sisters: Ernie and Waunita Clay.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Eastside Community Church in New Castle with Rev. Thomas Current officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 11:00 to 1:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Eastside Community Church, 545 S. 25th St., New Castle, IN 47362.
