Elizabeth Rose Day-Martin, 92, of New Castle, passed away Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Addison House in New Castle. She was born October 20, 1921 in Rown County, KY the daughter of Dewey L. and Edna C. (Stone) Rose.
Elizabeth retired from First National Bank, which is now Main Source Bank, after 31 years of service where she served as Assistant Vice President. She graduated from Knightstown High School and took several banking courses over the years. Elizabeth lived in the Knightstown and New Castle area most of her life. She was a member of the Altrusa Club of New Castle for 17 years including 2 years as president. She volunteered at both the Basketball Hall of Fame and Wilbur Wright Birthplace. Elizabeth was a member of the First Christian Church since 1954 and also was a member of the Ambassador Club of the Chamber of Commerce.
She is survived by her children: Michael (Sally) Day of New Castle, Sherry Rozelle of New Castle; grandchildren: Michael Day of Connersville, Timothy (Sondra) Day of Cooksville, TN, Greg Rozelle of New Castle, Wendy (Cliff) Decker of Fishers; nine great grandchildren; siblings: Lawrence Rose of FL, Deanna (Roger) Griffin of FL, Buddy Rose of Knightstown; step-children: Kenneth R. Martin, David S. (Jeri) Martin, Timothy L. (Amy) Martin; several step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth Martin; and previous husband and father of her children: Milford E. "Mid" Day; siblings: Jimmy Rose, Farris Rose, Nadine Swanson, Bob Rose, Art Rose, Carlee Rose, Cecil Rose, and Jackie Rose.
Services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 AM until time of service. You may express a condolence or share a memory of Elizabeth at
