Ellen Marianne Slavey, 65, of New Castle passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 14, 2014 at her residence. She was born September 26, 1948 in Muncie, Indiana, a daughter of the late James C. and Mary Joyce (Thresher) Williams.
She was a 1966 graduate of Muncie Central High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology from Ball State University in 1969. She had been employed at Henry County Hospital from 1973 until 2001 working as a medical technologist and retired in 2010 from Medical Consultants in Muncie. She enjoyed reading, computers and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include two sons: Paul "Rich" (Barbara) Jeffries of Greenwood and Jim (Melissa) Jeffries of New Castle; step children: Kimberly (David) Custer of Pendleton, Brian (Gina) Slavey of New Castle and Jason Slavey of Illinois; eleven grandchildren: Jimmy Jeffries, Bobby Slavey, Kayla Wilkinson, Dylan Wilkinson, Devon Custer, Corey Slavey, Brandon Wilkinson, Katy Clark, Kaitlyn Custer, Cassidy Slavey, Drake Custer; one great grandchild: Bentley Kaufman; siblings: Cathy (Bill) Skeel of Arkansas, Daniel (Pam) Williams of Muncie and David (Betty) Williams of Yorktown; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Roscoe Slavey on February 5, 2014; and an infant brother: Dennis Williams.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, New Castle with Reverend David Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services at the funeral home.
