Elnora Thompson

May 12, 1928 — January 24, 2013

Elnora Thompson, 84, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 24, 2013. She was born May 12, 1928 in Sumpter, Kentucky the second daughter of 11 children to the late Floyd and Flonnie (Coffey) Slagle.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She served faithfully until her health prevented her from attending. Elnora liked to garden and work on the farm. She loved flowers and had beautiful plants every year. Her porch was one of her favorite places to spend time with her family. She made our house a home and wove her strong values and sense of integrity into the fabric of our lives. She showed by example that through faith and hard work anything is possible. She set her standards high and lived up to them. We will miss her everyday but are grateful to have shared the life of this special woman. We are proud she was our mother and grandmother. She will live on in our hearts and souls forever.

Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn (husband, Haven) Hughes, of Panama City, FL; a son, Jim (wife, Rhonda) Thompson of New Castle; six grandchildren, Todd (wife, Katie) Walker of Lynn Haven, FL, Kim (husband, Doug) Ebert of Lynn Haven, FL, Travis Walker of Panama City, FL, Ty Thompson, Brandon (wife, Tiffany) Thompson, Brittanie Mineyard all of New Castle; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Gatha Baker of Kipton, OH, Mary (husband, Jim) Thorton of Monticello, KY, Kaye (husband, Joe) Lyons, of Spiceland, Sue Carter of Monticello, KY; a brother, Bro.
