Elsie Monzell Lowhorn, age 90, of New Castle, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born June 1, 1923 in Albany, Kentucky to the late Virgil and Eunice (Pierce) Shelley.
She was a longtime member of South Memorial Drive Church of God and also a member of the Eastern Star. She retired from Modernfold following 30 years of service. Elsie loved to sew, crochet and make quilts, she also enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include a son, Gerald (Karen) Lowhorn of Lapel; three grandchildren, Brian (wife, Debbie) Lowhorn of Anderson, Melissa (Mike) Bremer of North Salem, IN, and Larry (Peggy) Wiley of Cookeville, TN; sister, Sue (Joe) Tilley of Anderson; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a very special Maltese family pet Angel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lowhorn; a grandson, Ron Wiley.
Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Chris Gammello officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
