Emma Carr, 85, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was born December 20, 1934 in Vincent, Alabama, a daughter of the late Sam Dates and Ever McCrimmon.
Emma was a former member of the Wiley Methodist Church and occasionally would attend Bethany Tabernacle. Every Tuesday, Emma would volunteer at the Christian Love Center. She loved watching basketball and sports in general but especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports. She loved flowers, being outdoors in the sunshine and taking walks around town. She was a very caring and generous person who never met a stranger and had no enemies. Her favorite pastimes were playing Bingo and going to casinos.
Survivors include her daughters, Diana (Richard) Eggleston of Milan, Michigan, Brenda (Kenneth) Vogelgesang of Fishers and Ann (finance’ Silvina Camacho) Carr of New Castle; grandchildren, Christian Woods of McComb, Michigan, Jessica Woods of New Castle, Clarissa Vogelgesang of Indianapolis, Alyssa Vogelgesang of Oregon, Alexia Vogelgesang of Fishers, SSgt. Blake Eggleston of Milan, Michigan and PC1 Dalton Eggleston of Milan, Michigan.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Carr, Sr.; a son, J.C. Carr, Jr.; one brother and two sisters.
Friends and family may visit from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, but please be prepared to wait as we are only limited to 10 guests in attendance at a time. In accordance to the stipulations dealing with COVID-19, services will be held privately at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Sandy Jones officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
