EMOGENE CARTER, 81, of Indianapolis and formerly New Castle passed away Saturday, August 02, 2008 at Community North Hospital following an extended illness. She was born February 17, 1927 in New Castle, Indiana to the late E.C. and Martha Koger.
Emogene was a resident of New Castle for 67 years and was a 1945 graduate of New Castle High School. She married Joseph F. Carter on November 25, 1954 and was married 40 years. Emogene was a member of the First Christian Church in New Castle for 25 years and a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in McCordsville for 10 years. She was also a member of Business and Professional Women of New Castle for over 10 years. Emogene was the best mother in the world and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter: Linda Carter of Indianapolis; and many loving family members and close friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph F. Carter; her sister: Pauline Koger-Soloman; and her brother: Ray Koger
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor David Comstock officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
