Ernest Elmo Jolley, 91, of New Castle died Friday, November 11, 2011 at The Waters in New Castle. He was born March 2, 1920 in Byrdstown, Tennessee, a son of the late James Hardin and Alba (Holt) Jolley.
He married Martha Ellen Denney on May 28, 1955. A retiree of Chrysler Corporation, he retired on December 31, 1979 after 32 ½ years of service. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the UAW Local 371. He loved to fish and treasure hunt with his metal detector, belonging to Hoosier Hills Treasure Club.
Survivors include a brother: Kenneth Jolley of Byrdstown, TN; a nephew, James (wife, Judy) Jolley of Losantville, nieces, Carolyn (husband, Scott) Crook of Fayetteville, AR; Janet (husband, Larry) Divens of Springport, Linda (husband, Danny) Hall of Crossville, TN, Wandell (husband, Bill) Harmon of Byrdstown, TN and Sandy (husband, James) Young of Monroe, TN; many cousins, including Wesley Roy “Speck” Holt of New Castle.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Martha Ellen Jolley; seven brothers: Argo, Thurston, Aaron, Floyd, Lloyd, Walter and James Philip Jolley; and four sisters, Veo Means, Cohen Bowers, Dosha Mae Roberts; and one in infancy, Vina.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Gene Bennett officiating.
