Esther Boram

Esther Mae Boram, age 90, of Cadiz, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Henry County Hospital. She was born January 16, 1920 in Henry County, Indiana to the late Fred Alfred and Mary Josephine (Smith) Swartz.

A lifelong resident of the Cadiz area, she fulfilled her dream of living at home until the time of her passing. She was employed at Shenandoah School Corporation as a cook at the Middle School and retired in 1985. She was a member of Kennard Christian Church from 1932-1939 and currently a member of Cadiz Christian Church where she belonged to the Ladies Aid for 66 years. She loved to fish and also enjoyed gardening. She was a devoted wife to her husband of over 60 years, Robert Allen Boram.

Survivors include four children: Mary Jo (husband, Rodney) Hoover of Greenfield; David A. (wife, Karen) Boram of Florida; Steven Ward (wife, Betty) Boram of New Castle and Nila Ann (husband, Robert) Blackburn of Springport; nine grandchildren: Teresa Swinford, Mike (wife: Shelby) Hoover, Rhonda (husband, Scott) Paris, Tina (husband, Trent) Conyers, Charrity (husband, Jimmy) Bolander, Jessicca Boram, Jenniffer Boram, Jeremy (wife, Kelli) Blackburn and Joshua Blackburn; thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson; a sister-in-law: Dorcus Stauber of California; several nieces and nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Services will be at 11:30 am Monday, March 22, 2010 at Cadiz Christian Church with Reverend Jeff Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Fall Creek Cemetery, near Pendleton. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
