Winchester

Esther Elnora (Lamb) Brown, 83, of Winchester, Indiana passed away January 13, 2025, following a battle with Parkinson’s. She was born March 6, 1941, in Randolph County, a daughter of Wilbur and Thelma (Manning) Lamb.

A 1959 graduate of Union High School. She retired from Dana Corp. in Hagerstown in 1991. Esther and her husband Larry enjoyed their antique business, selling in several antique malls. She was an amazing cook and baker. Esther was very proud of her sons and grandchildren. She enjoyed the time she spent with them. Esther was a very kind joyful lady that always made people feel comfortable and at ease when they talked to her. Her kind gentle soul will be missed by so many. 

She is survived by two sons, Gene (Maria) Smith of Texas and Brian (Amanda) Brown of Anderson; a daughter Jill Hermenet of New Castle; 8 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two sisters, Nell Comer of Greenville, OH and Ada Slick of Union City. 

 In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Allen Smith; a sister, Betty Herron, a brother, John Lamb.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2025, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Bob Fraley officiating. Burial will follow at Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. You may express condolences or share a memory of Esther at www.hinsey-brown.com.
