Eugene Delmar Austin, 74, of New Castle died Friday, June 12, 2009 at Henry County Hospital following a brief illness. He was born August 14, 1934 in Alabama, a son of the late Lula Mae Cannon.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Military Police during the Korean War. He loved working in the yard, gardening and flea marketing. He was a good father, grandfather and loving husband. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years: Lucille (Peacock) Austin of New Castle; one son Bobby (wife: Veronica) Austin of Sevierville, Tennessee; two step-daughters: Melissa (husband: Doug) Hampton of New Castle and Tammie Shutz of Union City; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a daughter: Brenda Jean Austin.
Private services were held Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Services with Pastor Brian Jenkins officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.hinsey-brown.com
