Eula Ozell Griffin, age 84, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born February 14, 1929 in Burkesville, Kentucky to the late Luther and Rose (Riddle) Daniel.
She retired from Western Electric in 1985 following 28 years of service and had worked part-time in the school system. She was a member the Calvary Baptist Church and was also a member of the Euchre Club and Pioneer Club. Eula also bowled on a bowling league. She was an avid IU Basketball, Colts Football and New Castle sports fan.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol (husband, Dick) Hayes of New Castle; son, Jonathon David (wife, Melissa) Griffin of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Stephanie (husband, Chris) Walsh, Dru (wife, Erin) Griffin, Cameron (special companion: Chelsea Reel) Griffin and Erin (husband, Rich) Beeler; great grandchildren, Lily, Aislinn and Declan Walsh, Keegan, Piper and Liam Beeler; sister, Mary Gibson of Albany, KY; brother, Sherman Daniel of Albany, KY; very special nephew, Gene (wife, Linda) Melton of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Finley Griffin; sisters, Clara Melton, Maxine Norris and Kimble Arbison; brothers, Haskel, Layman, Preston , Paul, Clyde and Buford Daniel; mother-in-law, Patsy Hayes.
The family would like to say a special thanks to her “family” at Legacy Lane at Glen Oaks and Embrace Hospice for their loving care.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Bobby Slagle officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Embrace Hospice or to the Henry County Community Foundation Sports Scholarship program with envelopes available at the funeral home.
