Evelyn L. Dickey, age 86, a lifelong resident of New Castle, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at Heritage House of New Castle. She was born September 9, 1929 in New Castle to the late Cecil and Ada (Waterman) Scott.
Evelyn was a library tech for Parker School for 25 years. She taught Sunday school for many years, and had been a member of Church of Christ since 1949. She loved sewing, traveling, reading, and the Chicago Cubs, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family and friends.
She is survived by three daughters, Karen Dickey of New Castle, Kathy (Dan) Perkins of New Castle, Carol (Eugene) Keith of New Castle; six grandchildren, Debra (Jim) Wesley of Selma, Cindy (Adam) Hatcher of Greenfield, Kara (Ben) Richey of New Castle, Kaycie (David) Zubowski of Lusby, MD, Shane (Amanda) Perkins of New Castle, Krista Keith of New Castle; twelve great-grandchildren, Jessica, Laura, and Wyatt Wesley, Harley and Maverick Hatcher, Chase, Hope and Hanna Richey, Anastasia Zubowski, Joseph, Kaitlyn, Jenna Perkins; many nieces and nephews; and Lea Lea her Siamese cat.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, James C. Dickey in 2004; father, Cecil Scott in 1969; mother, Ada Scott in 1986; two sisters Waunita Hedrick and Phyllis JoAnn Catron.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2016 at Church of Christ, 304 North 14th Street, New Castle with Elder Robert Caudill and Evangelist Michael Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
