Evelyn Kay Kearney, 71, a resident of New Castle Passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Glen Oaks Health Campus following a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born November 1, 1945 in New Castle to the late Marion and Fern (Howell) Semler.
Kay was a 1964 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. She retired from First Merchants Corp. in 2010 after many years of service. Kay was affiliated with the United Methodist Church and enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors include a son: Nick Kearney of New Castle; a sister: Carol (Richard) Jinbo of Terre Haute; three nieces: Erika Jinbo of Terre Haute, Kirsten Semler and Lisa Semler, both of Minneapolis, MN; former sister-in-law: Nancy Semler of Minneapolis, MN.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Thor Semler.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 18, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Brian Riggs officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M., prior to the service.
