Flora McQueen

July 21, 1922 — September 15, 2009

Flora M. McQueen, age 87, of Modoc, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Parker Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parker City. She was born July 21, 1922, in Somerset, Kentucky to the late Edward and Allie (Spears) Vaught.

Flora attended the Farmland Friends Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her cat “Harry” and enjoyed watching blue birds, hummingbirds and loved nature all together. She was a good cook and enjoyed antiques, going to rummage sales and watching soap operas. Flora also enjoyed listening to music by Daniel O’Donnell.

Survivors include her children: Phil (wife: Lou) McQueen of Troy, OH, Greg (wife: Kathy) McQueen of Farmland, Jennifer (husband: Braynt) Lee of Modoc; grandchildren: Amy (husband: Jasen) Combs of Winchester, Emily (husband: Jeff) Hernly of Greensfork, Ellen (husband Brett) Slama of Carmel, Amanda McQueen of Muncie; two great granddaughters: Kendell and Marissa Combs of Winchester; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years: Elisha McQueen; siblings: Orville Vaught, Clifford Vaught, William Vaught, Ronald Vaught, Hollis Vaught, Wayne Vaught, Otis Vaught, Jewell Parks, Gertrude Bishop, Margaret Stockdale, and Helena Sweigart.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Debi Howell officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
