Our dear loving mother, Floris, “Flo” L. Abrams, 86, a resident of Knightstown, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2023 at her home. She was born on March 8, 1937 in Olive Hill, Kentucky to the late Ike and Laura (Stevens) Nolen.
Flo graduated High School in 1955 from West Carter High School and received a scholarship to attend Art College, but her dream was to get married and have a family. Flo was an exceptional Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She cared deeply for her family and friends, always providing love, support and prayers. A strong woman of faith, Flo had a love for the Lord and was a member of Faith Chapel in Knightstown.
She had a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others. Flo always worked hard and became a Certified Nursing Assistant and Qualified Medical Assistant where she worked in the hospital and retired from the Indiana Soldiers' and Sailors' Children's Home. She had many interests, including interior design, poetry, sketching, sewing, creating crafts and gardening.
Survivors include two sons: David Abrams of Olive Hill, Kentucky and Doug (wife: Laurie) Abrams of New Castle; a daughter: Delaura Abrams of Knightstown; nine grandchildren: Samantha McCorkle, Lauren McCorkle, Michael (Brooklyn) Abrams, Shelby (Jake) Nation, Amber Abrams-Redmond, Mason Garris, William “Bill” Phillips, Aron Carpenter, and Colton Abrams; several great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Flo was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years: Winfield “Sam” Abrams and fourteen brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Eric Boling officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Av.
