Floyd R. Jones

Floyd R. Jones, 79, a resident of New Castle passed away Monday, October 21, 2024 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. He was born March 21, 1945 in Albany, Kentucky to the late R.V. and Irene (Neal) Jones.

A veteran of the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1967 in the Vietnam war. He worked for Dana Corporation from 1967 and retired in 2000 after 33 years of service. After retirement, he passed newspapers and mowed lawns to keep busy. Floyd was a long-time member of the American Legion, Post 137, in New Castle. He enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards and going to the casino. He also loved riding Harley's and driving his Corvette.

 Floyd is survived by two daughters; Krista (Matthew) Fairchild of New Castle and Jennifer (Floyd) Richards Jr. of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Jordan and Logan Powers of New Castle, Mackenzie Grace Richards of Hagerstown and Floyd Austin (Kayla) Richards of Centerville; four great-grandchildren, Camden Luna, Oaklynn Richards, Kingston Pollitt and Wrenley Richards; three sisters, May voiles of Avon Park, FL, Bonnie Ragan of New Castle and Bobbie Damren of Green Cove Spring, FL; and the mother of his children and friend, Nancy Akers.

 He is preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Jones; two sisters, Marie Winchester and Barbara Sewell.

 Services will be held to 1:00 PM Friday, October 25, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow Locust Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 PM Friday, October 25 at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by contingents of the US Army, American Legion and the VFW.
