Floyd Troxell

May 5, 1927 — August 8, 2009

Floyd S. Troxell, 82, of New Castle went to be with the Lord Saturday, August 8, 2009 at his residence. He was born May 5, 1927 in Wayne County, Kentucky a son of the late Clyde E. and Goldie (Wright) Troxell.

He retired from Ingersoll Steel after 30 years of service and then worked for Blue River Elementary School for 10 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. Floyd enjoyed farming and was a longtime member and faithful supporter of the First Assembly of God in New Castle, where he had served as board member, clerk, Sunday School teacher, and served over 40 years as treasurer.

Survivors include his wife: Doris Troxell of New Castle; two daughters: Diane Johnson of Elkhart and Karen (husband: David) Arnett of New Castle; a stepdaughter: Brenda C. (husband: Bruce) Aaron of New Castle; a stepson: Larry D. (wife: Cynthia) Gosser of New Castle; two brothers: Roy (wife: Marie) Troxell of New Castle and William O. (wife: Gloria) Troxell of Illinois; one sister: Betty (husband: George) Davidson of Muncie; six grandchildren; four step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife: Lorene Troxell; a sister: Julia Bell; a twin brother, Lloyd Troxell; infant son, Edward Troxell; a son Floyd Allen Troxell; and a son-in-law: Ken Johnson.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at First Assembly of God, New Castle with Pastor Steve Gallaway officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. In honor of Floyd’s faithful support to his church, memorial contributions may be given to First Assembly of God with envelopes available at the funeral home.
