Frank J. “Buster” Hayes, 88, of New Castle passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Henry Community Health. He was born March 12, 1928 in Mauckport, Indiana, a son of the late Jerome Hayes and Thelma Fern (Best) Tinkle.
He Owned and Operated Busters Cement Products, Hayes Landfill and Big B Rubbish Removal in New Castle. In his early years, he owned several service stations in New Castle. Buster was a former member of the New Castle Elks Lodge. He was a life member of the NRA where he competed in pistol competitions. He was a pilot and owned his own plane. He enjoyed tinkering with antique cars and spending time with his family. Buster was a great story teller and loved to dance.
Survivors include his children: Connie Hayes of Medford, OR, Terri (Chuck) Thomas of New Lisbon, Randy (Beverly) Hayes of New Castle, Steve (Terri) Hayes of New Castle; daughter-in-law: Mary Lou Hayes of Knightstown; companion, Mildred “Millie” Hoelscher of New Castle; grandchildren: Autumn (Paul) Walker, Ian Hayes, Crystal (Aaron) Fawver, Jesse Hayes, Sarah (Danni) Thomas, Hannah (Chad) Powers, Ariel Riezenman, Adam Riezenman, Chad ( Rachael) Hayes, Stacy (Collin) McGrady; several great grand nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son: Larry Hayes and his former wife, Vivian Hayes.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Jerry Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
