Franklin "Frank" Bruce Bush Sr.

October 17, 1942 — February 8, 2024

Franklin “Frank” Bruce Bush Sr. (81) was peacefully called to his eternal home surrounded by his loved ones in his home of 51 years on February 8, 2024, after a short-term illness.

Frank was born to James and Adda (York) Bush on October 17th, 1942, in New Castle, Indiana. Frank married his beloved wife Judith (Judi) Turner on November 28th, 1970, in New Castle, Indiana, and spent 53 wonderful years together.

Frank grew up in New Castle and spent most of his free time causing trouble with his brothers. After school, Frank worked at Ray’s Drive-In with his mother and brothers. Frank joined the United States Army with his brothers Clyde and Ulysses in May 1960. Frank was enlisted in the 25th Division and stationed at Fort Riley Kansas for basic training. He then was stationed at the Schofield barracks in Honolulu, Hawaii. Frank was then honorably discharged on April 30th, 1966. Following the army, Frank began working at the Chrysler plant in New Castle, Indiana after technical school in Indianapolis to earn his certificate to get his journeyman’s card. Frank was a cutter grinder for 44 years before his retirement in June of 2007.

Frank was an exceptional wood craftsman and won various awards for his carvings. Frank’s passion was fishing and it followed him throughout his life. He traveled across the country with his family and friends to go on fishing trips. Frank enjoyed taking his bass boat to Mount Summit Lake with his family where they spent countless hours on the lake. Frank also loved taking his family to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and enjoyed taking them to the rivers in the Smoky Mountains to fish and play in the water. Frank and his wife Judi loved taking their children and grandchildren to Disney World every chance they could. In his free time, Frank enjoyed gardening on his porch, he always kept food out in his yard for the birds to visit him. Frank also enjoyed doing puzzles, and collecting sports cards, and he had a big love of music. You wouldn’t find Frank without his music on and a cup of black coffee in his hand. Most importantly, Frank’s biggest passion was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved supporting them at all of their activities. Frank will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Frank is survived by his wife, Judi Bush; son, Franklin (fiancé, Melissa) Bush of Marion, Indiana; two daughters, Dena (Ron) Kenworthy of Hagerstown, Indiana and Juli Penn of Palm Bay, Florida; 8 grandchildren, Macie (fiancé, Dakota) Bush, Frankie (fiancé, Chloe) Bush, Megan Bush, Allyson (Joseph) Ward, Kristen (Chase) McCombs, Timi Lynn (Mark) Black, Tia (Trevor) Thomas, Tyler (Kristen) Penn; 11 great-grandchildren, Oliver, Rylee, Ryder, Avery, Ava, Mailynn, Maleigha, Mackenzie, Benjamin, Penelope, and Trace; Frank is also survived by one brother, Julian (Joyce) Bush; special friend, Amanda Bertram; several nieces and nephews and his beloved four-legged friend Jenny.
