Fredrick Harrison Dalton, 84, of New Castle passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at his residence. He was born on January 24, 1939 in Albany, Kentucky to the late James Hershall and Mary Vella (Stockton) Dalton.
Fredrick was a 1957 graduate from New Castle High School. He worked at Perfect Circle for 12 years then Delco Remy for 28 years before retiring as a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker. He was a quiet, sincere, tolerant and gentle man who loved his wife and family. Fredrick was a talented and handy man who could fix almost anything around the house. He always kept the farm looking immaculate. He especially enjoyed restoring his collector cars and his meticulous attention to detail was rewarded with many national and regional trophies and awards. Fredrick was a member of both the Illinois Fiero Club and Buick Club of America for many years. He enjoyed attending car shows and showing off his 1987 GT Fiero and 1990 Buick Reatta. Fredrick was an amazing husband, dad, and poppy.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis L. Dalton; sons, Harrison “Fred” Dalton of Spiceland and Robert Dalton of Greenfield; daughter. Brenda K. Dalton of Indianapolis; granddaughters, Joni and Evie Dalton; a brother, Horace (Hilda) Dalton; a special furry companion, Oreo; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Jean Phillips; infant brother, Jimmy Dalton; father and mother-in-law, Obie and Nannie McCutchen; and a sister-in-law, Geneva Ruth West.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff, Nikki, Beth, Rhonda, Mandy and Billy, of Henry Community Health Hospice for the exceptional care Fredrick received.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Gary McCutchen officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 1:00 pm until time of service.
