Frieda R. Mullen

Frieda R. Mullen, 106, a resident of New Castle passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Rushville. She was born November 4, 1908 in Paris, Illinois and was a daughter of the late Milan and Bertha (Haverkamp) Bressler.

Frieda attended Jasonville High School. A longtime resident of New Castle, she had worked for L.B. Price Co., Metropolitan Insurance and Sears Roebuck & Co. Frieda was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in New Castle where she taught Sunday school and Children’s church for many years. She enjoyed her pets, gardening and playing the piano. The family would like to thank Vickie Dudley and Miller’s Merry Manor for their loving and compassionate care.

Survivors include a daughter, Soni Mullen of New Castle; two grandchildren, Donalene and Carroll (Janine) Mullen both of Bailey, NC; a great grandson, Jordan Mullen of Bailey, NC and a niece, Gloria (Forrest) Selvidge of New Castle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll in 1992; a son, Donald Mullen; two brothers, Bernard and Kenneth Bressler and two sisters, Helen McGaham and Lucile Ashton.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Reverend Danny Goddard officiating. Burial will follow at Batson Cemetery, east of New Castle. Friends may call from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Humane Society, 11 Midway Drive, New Castle, IN 47362.
