Gary E. Bennett, 64, of Carthage, passed away Sunday evening at his residence, following an extended illness. He was born October 16, 1952 in Greenfield, a son of the late Rex and Rosetta Bennett.
Gary was a member of the American Legion and the Eagles Lodge, both of Rushville. He enjoyed fishing, working on lawn mowers, and loved spending time with his family and friends. He had worked at Randall-Techstron in Morristown, farmed, and worked with heavy machinery.
Survivors include, wife, Verna Bennett of Carthage; sons, Scott (Heather) Bennett of Shirley, and Tracy Bennett of TX; daughters, Donna Barton of TX, and Elizabeth (Shaun) Turner of Shelbyville; step –son, Jason Jackson of Knightstown; grandchildren, Marissa and Olivia Bennett, Carter and Madison Turner, Ashley Landrum, Maddie Bennett, and Heather Jackson; sisters, Joyce Cole of Flatrock, and Carolyn Hendricks of Maxwell; a special friend, Larry Geise of Carthage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Bennett.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Chaplain Les Turner officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Carthage Cemetery. In order to defray funeral costs, memorial contributions may be given to the Gary E.
