Gary S. "Jake" Padgett

Gary S. (Jake) Padgett, 62, of rural Mt. Summit passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011. He was born November 9, 1948 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Robert L. (former Henry County Sheriff) and Evelyn V. (Heaton) Padgett.
Jake graduated from Chrysler High School in 1967 and was the owner and operator of Padgett’s Body Shop in Mt. Summit for many years.
Survivors include a special friend and companion Shirley Shoopman and her family: Amy, Bruce, Lauren,and Maddy Glaser, Angie, Ryan and Austin Boyer and Tom Shoopman; two brothers: Doug (wife: Lois) Padgett of Palm City, Florida and Ron (wife: Alma) Padgett of New Castle; two nephews: Kyle (wife: Kelly) Padgett and Ryan Padgett of Florida; great niece: Evelyn Padgett; two uncles Mac (wife Betty) Heaton of Muncie and Bill (wife: Wanda) Padgett of Avon; and several cousins, including special cousin Jane (husband: John) Heaton Williams.
Services will be 6:00 p.m.Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Lane Fairchild officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home Memorial contributions may be made to Henry County Humane Society, 11 Midway Drive, New Castle, IN 47362; Henry County Hospital Hospice, 798 North 16th Street, New Castle, IN 47362 or Henry County Cancer Society, 1909 Walnut Street, New Castle, IN 47362.
