Gene B. Willis

Gene B. Willis, 60, of Fairborn, Ohio passed from this life unto his heavenly home on December 30, 2014 after an extended illness.

Gene was born on November 10, 1954, in New Castle, Indiana the third son of Doyle and Sue Willis. Gene grew up in Spiceland, Indiana and attended Spiceland Schools. He grew up loving sports and spending time in the outdoors with his grandpa Sam. Gene graduated from Tri High School where he lettered in four sports and was all-conference in basketball and baseball. Gene attended Ball State University in the mid-1970’s. Gene was a fun-loving person who enjoyed being with friends and family. He was a Green Bay Packers fan and went to see them play at Lambeau field on two occasions. Gene loved to fish and enjoyed coming to Indiana to spend time in the outdoors with family.

Following college, Gene became involved with the restaurant business and managed restaurants in Kentucky and Dayton, Ohio. Gene then transitioned to the real estate business and was employed with Berkshire-Hathaway Realtors (formerly Prudential Realtors) prior to his illness. Gene was an excellent cook and often catered block parties in his neighborhood. Gene loved animals and especially his beloved Himalayan cat, Huskie.

Left to cherish his memory; his mother, Sue Wills, Spiceland; his brother, Jon L. Willis (wife Susan) of Yorktown; a daughter, Stephanie Willis of West Carrollton, Ohio; a nephew, Matthew S. Willis of Muncie; a nephew Aaron M. Willis (wife Kristy) of Muncie; a grand niece, Kinsey M. Willis, daughter of Aaron and Kristy; an aunt, Betty Moffitt of Spiceland, a step brother, Ed Wills (wife Cindy) of Danville, Indiana, a step brother, Jim Wills (wife Teresa) of Indianapolis, a step sister, Barbara Wills of Florida; several cousins; several step-nieces, a step nephew; special friends, Rainer Kuschnerus, Steve May, and Frank Jinks, all of the Dayton area.

Gene was preceded in death by his father, Doyle E. Willis; his older brother, Terry D. Willis and his sister-in-law, Diane M. Willis.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Spiceland Friends Church. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. with the funeral following. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Circle Gove Cemetery in Spiceland. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Spiceland Friends Church, P.O.
