Geneva Irene Wright

Geneva Irene Wright, age 79, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010 at her residence. She was born June 1, 1931 in Gainesville, Texas to the late James Robert and Ova (Massengale) Davis.

A homemaker most of her life, yard work was Geneva’s passion. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and also loved her dog Tabby. She was a past member of Apostolic Pentecostal Church in New Castle and was in the Foster Grandparent Program for over 20 years.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest C. Wright of New Castle whom she married August 20, 1948; six children, Jimmy C. (wife, Carleatta) Wright, Edra K. Wright (companion, Lloyd Garrett), Vesta Fay Wright (companion, Joey Crabtree), Linda Sue Wright Swails (companion, Angela Duvall) all of New Castle, Patricia Lynn Wright (husband, Danny) Hunt of Kennard, and Christie M. Wright (husband, Gene) Van Matre of Farmland; eleven grandchildren, James Wright, Amanda Ewing, Christopher Haynes, Alexander Moore, Pamela Mundy, Sarah Schmidt, Amanda Perkins, Brittany Jolley, Danny Hunt, David Dunham, and Allen McKinney; fifteen great grandchildren; brothers, Gene (wife, Reva) Davis of AK, Carl (wife, Edith) Davis of Brazil, Hubert (wife, Charlene) Davis of Attica, Ralph Davis of Williamsburg, and Leroy (wife, Ann) Davis of New Castle; sister, Shirley (husband, Raymond) Clevenger of Dublin; special sister-in-law, Hazel Davis of MO.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a special grandson, Scott “Scotty” Joseph Crabtree; three brothers, Ross, C.T. and Ira Davis; sister-in-law, Edyth Davis.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 28 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8p.m. Sunday, June 27 at the funeral home.
