George Dugger

March 31, 1929 — July 28, 2009

George A. Dugger, age 80, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at his residence. He was born March 31, 1929 in Frazier, Kentucky to the late Wendell and Jessie Lee (Jones) Dugger.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and enjoyed flying his own plane. He retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in New Castle after 35 years of service, had farmed in the Henry County area and did construction work. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was known for talking to others about the Lord. He loved his wife and his family. He enjoyed family vacations, camping, working in his yard with flowers, and golfing. He was also an avid New Castle Trojan Basketball fan.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years: Betty Jo (Martin) Dugger whom he married June 4, 1949; daughters: Teresa E. Jones and Sandy L. Dugger (companion: Jim Smith); a son Danny G. (wife: Carol) Dugger; five grandchildren: Laura Hancock (companion: Bill Kidd), Lynne (husband: Michael) Bennett, Benjamin Ballard, Carly (husband: Ali) Osman and Chelsea Dugger; three great grandchildren: Maura Hancock, Titen Bennett and Samir Osman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Lela Mae Dugger and Margaret Abbott.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Denny Neal officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition.
