George C. Hale

George C. Hale, 88, of Mooreland, went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, while surrounded by his family. He was born January 5, 1936, in Sulphur Springs, a son of the late Augustus and Ruth Marie (Hodson) Hale.

George attended elementary school in Blountsville and high school in Mooreland. He retired from Dana Corp. in New Castle. He enjoyed fishing and road trips (especially to military museums) and was very patriotic. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean conflict, and was stationed in Germany.

George's entire identity was centered in Christ. His never wavering faith and perseverance was a true example of the Christian Life. He pastored the Church of Christ in Christian Union in New Castle until age 85. A loving husband, dad and papaw.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 65 years, Jane Hale of Mooreland; three children, Tim (Brenda) Hale of Springport, Cathy Ballenger of Sulphur Springs, and Sarah Hale of Mooreland; four grandchildren, Caleb Hale of Richmond, Rebekah Hale of Orlando, FL, Todd Ballenger (Gabriella) of Lapel and Kyla (Ryan) Oakes of Middletown; four great grandchildren, Melanie, Reece, Emma, and Annie Oakes; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters,Jane Kendall, Virginia Lewis, and Mary Brothers; three brothers, Byron, Walter, and Alfred Hale.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Antioch Christian Church in Losantville with Pastor Jerry Bowlin officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2024, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at www.t2t.org.
