George A. Leininger, 61, of Indianapolis and formerly of Knightstown, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Rosewalk Assisted Living, where he resided. He was born March 12, 1963, in Indianapolis, a son of the late George A. and Marjorie (Snowberger) Leininger.
George attended Knightstown Schools through his junior year and graduated from high school in Indianapolis. He served 9 years as the State Director of the Youth Temperance Council (Teen group of WCTU). He received an Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts from Ivy Tech. George was well known for his skills as the night supervisor for Long’s Bakery in Southport for many years. When he retired, he moved to Rosewalk Assisted Living, where he thoroughly enjoyed the activities, friendships, and camaraderie with the residents there.
He is survived by two sisters, Lois Vertullo and Michelle Huss, both of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Vicky Maryman and Linda Young.
Services will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Dr. Steven Bohall officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.
