George L. Miller, 83, of Sulphur Springs, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 in Davis Gardens Health Center in Terre Haute. He was born August 31, 1927 in Sulphur Springs to the late Rolo and Pauline (Burke) Miller.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. George retired from Great American Insurance and had been in the insurance business for 35 years. He was a member of the Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge and the White Union Christian Church where he enjoyed church activities. George enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Stephens of Terre Haute and Kim (husband, Mike) Egger of Terre Haute; a son, Jeff Miller of New Castle; grandchildren, Stephanie (husband, Sam) Tarantino of Lafayette, John Stephens (fiancé, Jessica Robertson) of Knoxville, TN, Ross Egger and Will Egger both of Terre Haute; a great granddaughter, Ella Switzer of Lafayette; a sister, Marlene (husband, John) McLin of Plant City, FL; a stepbrother, Don Higbee of Hagerstown; his wife of 15 years, Deloris Miller of Sulphur Springs; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Patty Miller; a granddaughter, Shana Stephens; a son-in-law, Mitch Stephens; a sister, Vera Jones and a brother, Robert Miller.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in Middletown. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at the funeral home.
