George Moran

George Henry Moran, age 67, of Losantville, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 13, 2009 after fighting a good battle with cancer, Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was born August 17, 1941 in Kentucky to the late Arnold and Affie V. (Roy) Moran.

He retired from Delco Remy in Anderson in 1992 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Farmland Conservation Club, a former Union Township Lions Club member and was also a member of the Greater Indianapolis Brittany Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and raised quail. He had a bird dog training grounds for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years: Sara J. (Myers) Moran; a son: Timothy (wife: Jennifer) Moran of Evansville; a daughter: Melissa Hammitt of TX; grandchildren: Jessica, Caleb, Jacob, Charissa, Kacie, Meghan and Brent; four great grandchildren; two sisters: Vivian Lackey, Lois (husband: Jim) Patterson both of Shirley; a brother: Larry “Jim” (wife: Shannon) Moran of Muncie; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Charity Faye Moran; son-in-law: Roger Hammitt; two grandchildren: David Moran and Trista Hammitt.

Services will be at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Charles Riggs officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2009 in Glen Cove Cemetery.
