George H. Rauch

George H. Rauch, 86, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at his residence with his family at his bedside. He was born October 3, 1924 in Oak Park, IL the son of George Frank and Helen (Doyle) Rauch.

He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the European Theater during WWII. He retired from New Castle State Development Center in 1986 after 29 years of service. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council; past president of the Chrysler High School Band Boosters, Henry County Chamber of Commerce and Ambassador Club, Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Advisory Board and Westminster Community Center Board. George also was recipient of Sagamore of the Wabash, served on board of the Presbyterian and Methodist Boy Scouts and was a member of the American College of Hospital Administrators.

He is survived by his fiance’ Marietta Mogle of New Castle; four sons: Eric (wife Linda) of Norris, TN; Mark of Indianapolis; Scott (wife Cynthia) of Centerville; Jeff (wife Kelly Chenoweth) of Chicago; grandchildren: George (wife Annie), Christopher (wife Carmen), Brian (fiance’ Martha), Jennifer (husband Justin), Spencer (wife Allison), Carly (husband Ben), Amanda, Alexander and Nicholas; two great grandchildren: Harmony and Aiden; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Sharon, his loving wife of 52 years; a son George O. Rauch; and sister Myrtle.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Friday, June 3, 2011 at St. Anne Catholic Church in New Castle with Father Joe Rautenburg officiating. Internment will be at a later date. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
