George Edward Royer, 88, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Heritage House of New Castle. George was born on August 15, 1934 in Bluffton to the late William and Mildred (Sims) Royer.
George retired from MEG Steel Corp. in Cambridge City after 36 years. He also was a contractor, building several homes and farming in Henry County. George was also a truck driver and had been employed by Brooks Foods in Mt. Summit. He played basketball for the Mooreland Bobcats. George attended Westview Church of the Nazarene, Mooreland Friends Church and Park Place United Methodist Church in New Castle. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, rubik's cubes, camping, gardening and picking blackberries and raspberries. George liked his little blue lawn mower and was always willing to help those in need.
Survivors include the love of his life wife of 64 years, Dixie (Acton) Royer; two daughters, Brenda Watkins and Georgia (Kevin) Muncy, both of New Castle; grandchildren, Autumn Muncy of Carthage, Lyndsie (Aaron) Neal of New Castle, Krista (Chris) King of Greenfield and Breanna (Charles) Stephens of New Castle; great grandchildren, Mason and Jacob Fields, Serenity and Jaxon Rogers, Kynzile and Maddax Neal, Hazel King, Hadlee Muncy, Cambreigh and Adelynn Stephens; a sister; Wilma Massengale of New Castle; sister-in-law, Judy Worthington (Charles) French; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit from 1:30-3:00 P.M. Monday, June 12, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Private graveside services will be held at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. You may express condolences or share a memory of George at
