Georgia A. Lee, age 86, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Heritage House of New Castle. She was born August 31, 1926 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Leo and Mary Emily (Thrasher) Sutherland.
A homemaker, she was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle. She began attending church at the age of 4 and had served as a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School helper, choir member, soloist, pianist and organist. Georgia attended Bible study fellowship for 8 years and was a member of TOPS. An avid walker, she also bowled on a bowling league.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn (John) Mitchell of New Castle and Sherry (Mark) Short of Rushville, IN; four granddaughters, Misti (Brad) Fanton of Plainfield, Traci Bolle of Grand Rapids, MI, Aimie (Dave) Abrams of New Castle, Crissie Ashline of Morristown, IN; four great grandchildren, John (Brittany), Sydney, A.J. and Elijah; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Walter “Max” Lee in 2006; great granddaughter, Laken Riley; four brothers, Arthur, Reverend Alvin, Paul, and Bill Sutherland.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Paul Gregory Southerland and Reverend Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the funeral home.
