Gladys L. Baumgartner

Gladys L. Baumgartner, 90, of South Salem, Ohio and formerly of New Castle passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 at Heartland of Chillicothe. She was born December 12, 1922 in Marion County, Indiana, a daughter of the late John J. and Mattie (Stanfield) Poindexter.

A housewife, Gladys had lived in the Modoc area from 1953 until 1994 when she moved to New Castle. She had attended First Church of Christ in Lynn and volunteered in many nursing homes.

Survivors include three daughters: Janice Elaine Hernly of DeLand, Florida, Sherrill Ann (husband, Larry) Ferrell of Batavia, Ohio and Donna Jean (husband, Gary) Merkamp of South Salem, Ohio; one son: Richard Alan (wife, Sue) Baumgartner of Angola, Indiana; grandchildren; great grandchildren; two sisters: Betty Lou (husband, Roy) Baumgartner of Long Beach, California, and Helen Gaddis of Dublin; two brothers: Ralph Earl Poindexter of Connersville and James Leroy Poindexter of Monroe.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Ernest Baumgartner; five brothers: Paul Edward, Donald, John, Kenneth and David R. Poindexter; and one sister: Dorothy Lewis.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Larry Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
