Gladys Dabney, age 91, of New Castle, passed away Saturday, January 02, 2010 at Glen Oaks Health Campus following an extended illness. She was born on April 13, 1918 in Wayne County, Kentucky to the late Isaac and Lenora (Bell) Barrier.
Gladys was a member of the Temple Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and especially loved visiting with friends and family.
Gladys is survived by her children: John (wife: Sharon) Dabney of New Castle, and Betty Faye (husband: Robert) Stoops of New Castle; four granddaughters: Tammy (husband: Scott) Gard of Mooreland, Robin (husband: Ron) Ingram of Ocala, Fl., Shelley Buck of Plainfield, Aaron Buck of Greencastle, Andrea (husband: Brad) Linville of Campton Hills, IL.; ten great grandchildren: Jeremy and Justin Gard of Mooreland, Ryan (wife: Tara) Neal of Ocala, Fl., Emily (husband: Shawn) Grubb of Ocala, Fl., Bryce, Brandon, and MacKenzie Linville of Campton Hills, IL., Taylor and Tristan Buck of Plainfield, Josh Buck of Lafayette; three great-great grandchildren: Connor, Braden Grubb of Ocala, Fl., Brianna Neal of Ocala, Fl.; one sister: Clara Foster of Monticello, KY and two sisters-in-law: Ailene Dabney of Stanford, KY and Alta Barrier of Monticello, KY; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Raymond L. Dabney; four brothers: Bobby, Larry, Cedric, and Virgil Barrier; three sisters: Bea Hensley, Myrtle Boiles, and Helen O’Dell.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Dennis Pycraft officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
