Glenna Koontz, 74, of New Castle passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 1, 1940 in Cartwright, KY to the late Guy and Mary (Lyons) Vitatoe.
Glenna has been a resident of New Castle for the past 50 years. She graduated from Indiana University with a degree in nursing. She was employed by Henry County Hospital as an RN before retiring with 32 years of service. Glenna was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in New Castle. She enjoyed traveling and gardening.
Glenna is survived by her son: Jeff Koontz; daughter: Tammy (husband: Darvin) Taylor; brothers: Johnny (wife: Janice) Vitatoe; Randy (wife: Debbie) Vitatoe; sister: Mary Wynn (husband: Glenn) Dalton and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents Glenna is preceded in death by her husband: Bobby Koontz; daughter: Elizabeth Ann Koontz; sister: Marty Smith and brother: Jerry Vitatoe.
At Glenna’s request, there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4567 Progress Dr. Columbus, IN 47201 or Gideon Bibles with envelopes available at the funeral home or go to www.gideons.org .
