Glenna O. Makela, 72, of Greenfield passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010 At Community Hospital East, Indianapolis following an extended illness. She was born April 14, 1937 in Whetstone, Kentucky to the late Jessie and Ella (Witham) Claywell.

A member of Locketts Chapel Methodist Church in Monticello, Kentucky, she attended Trinity Park United Methodist Church in Greenfield. She was a 25 year member of the Shirley Order of the Eastern Star. An avid bowler, she bowled in several leagues in New Castle and Kentucky. She was also a seamstress and enjoyed making and painting dolls.

She is survived by her husband: Jerry G. Makela, whom she married April 14, 2000; three children: Dart (wife: Donna) Liebrandt of Columbus, Dewayne (wife: Jackie) Liebrandt of Greenfield, and Belinda (husband: Scott) Limbrock of Mission Viejo, CA; two step-children: Michael (wife: Pam) Makela of Speedway, and Jacqueline (husband: Richard) Christensen of Champaign, IL; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five step-granddaughters; two sisters: Stella (husband: Donald) Nicholas and Carol Stigall, both of New Castle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband: Dale E. Liebrandt; a daughter: Malissa E. Baldwin; a sister: Virginia; and brother: Robert.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, with Reverend Mike Manning officiating. Entombment will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4 – 8 pm Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the funeral home where there will be an Eastern Star memorial service held at 7:30 pm.
