Gordon D. Snyder, age 70 of Cambridge City, entered into the presence of his beloved Lord Jesus Christ Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. He was born April 14, 1942 in Wayne County, Indiana to the late Roland and Edith (Gans) Snyder.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from Dana Corporation in 2003 following 25 years of service. He had previously been employed at Natco Corporation. He was a member of the American Legion post in Dublin and a long time member of First Baptist Church, both in Richmond and New Castle. He served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon at Richmond and teacher and elder at New Castle. He was also involved in leadership in the Walk to Emmaus and was very active in missions and ministries. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed golfing.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta (Bowman) Snyder, whom he married June 14, 1969; daughter, Kara (husband, Jeffrey) Jacobs of Lisle, IL; son, Matthew (wife, April) Snyder of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Luke and Abby Jacobs, Mason, Claire and Ruby Snyder; three siblings, Marshall (wife, Linda) Snyder of Texas, Judy Ridenour of Brownsville, In and Vernon (wife, Brenda) Snyder of Cambridge City; three nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his Life will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in New Castle with Pastors Jerry Ingalls and Phil Hodgkin officiating. A time of Fellowship will follow the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church Missions, 709 S.
