Gretchen Marie Kernel

Gretchen M. Kernel, 70, of Muncie, passed away at her residence Sunday, November 13, 2016. She was born September 29, 1946 in Henry County, Indiana to Joseph B. and Wanda (Friddle) Kernel.

She attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Muncie. Gretchen loved being outside in nature and enjoyed visiting the Muncie Reservoir. She also loved being with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Russell Taylor Sr.; adopted son, Josh Barnes of Muncie; step children, Randy Gregory, Teresa Gregory, Lisa Gregory; grandchildren, Russell Taylor Jr., Maggie Hoover, Devin Taylor and Winsor Barnes; a brother, Jeff (Jane) Kernel of Mt. Summit; nephews, Dustin (Angie) Kernel and Devin (Casey) Kernel.

She was preceded in death by her parents and Glen Gregory.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Bruce Waters officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gretchen M. Kernel Memorial Fund.
